A4Flight Academy handbook

How the club, the aircraft, the training syllabus and the member portal work — written for members, students, instructors, mechanics and administrators.

Getting started

Renter (non-owned) insurance

Why members carry renter insurance and how to buy a policy.

What it covers

Club policies cover the aircraft and the club, not your personal liability or the deductible you can be held to as the renting pilot. A non-owned (renter) policy covers that gap.

  • Damage to the aircraft up to the club's deductible.
  • Your liability to passengers and third parties.
  • Legal defence costs following an incident.

Buying a policy

  1. 1Open Renter insurance from the site footer, or go to a4flight.com/insurance.
  2. 2Compare the coverage tiers shown and pick the limits that match how you fly.
  3. 3Buy directly from the insurer, then upload the certificate under Documents so dispatch sees you as current.

Dispatch checks insurance currency along with medical and flight review — an expired certificate blocks the flight.
