The U/F/S/E grading scale, CAPS memory recall, and what locks a worksheet.

Grading scale
| Grade | Meaning |
|---|---|
| U — Unsatisfactory | Manoeuvre not performed to standard; repeat the lesson. |
| F — Familiarisation | Introduced and demonstrated; no standard expected yet. |
| S — Satisfactory | Performed to the standard with normal coaching. |
| E — Excellent | Performed to practical test standards, unprompted. |
Safety gate
Where a lesson carries a CAPS safety callout, the instructor must confirm the student can state the CAPS decision and altitude limit from memory before the worksheet can be graded S or E.
Sign-off makes it a record
- Only an instructor or chief instructor can assign a grade and sign off.
- Once signed off, the worksheet is read-only for everyone, including staff.
- A repeated lesson creates a new attempt rather than editing the signed record.
- Every worksheet prints to a single US-Letter page for the physical training file.
