Protect Yourself When Flying Aircraft You Don't Own
A4Flight maintains insurance on its aircraft and business operations. That fleet policy is not the same as personal non-owned aircraft insurance purchased by an individual pilot. Personal renter or CFI coverage can help protect you from financial responsibility following a covered incident.
Quotes and policies are issued directly through Starr and Higginbotham, A4Flight's aviation insurance broker.
Why it matters
Fleet Insurance and Personal Renter Insurance Are Different
A4Flight's published wet rates include the cost of maintaining and insuring the aircraft. However, the aircraft policy primarily protects the aircraft owner and A4Flight. It may not protect a renter pilot from every personal liability, deductible, loss-of-use, subrogation, or legal-defense exposure.
Personal non-owned aircraft insurance — often called renter insurance — is purchased in the pilot's own name and provides coverage subject to the limits, conditions, and exclusions selected by that pilot.

Coverage Built for How You Fly
Student Pilots and Aircraft Renters
Select Personal Non-Owned Aircraft Coverage if you are training in or renting an A4Flight aircraft. This type of policy may provide protection for third-party bodily injury, property damage, legal-defense expenses, medical payments, and physical damage to an aircraft you rent but do not own.
A4Flight's aviation insurance broker recommends the Silver Package as the minimum starting point. Pilots may select Gold or Platinum for higher available limits.
Certified Flight Instructors
CFIs should select Flight Instructors Personal & Professional Coverage. Ordinary renter coverage may not apply while providing paid or professional instruction, flight reviews, aircraft checkouts, evaluations, or other CFI services.
Instructors must accurately identify the aircraft categories in which they provide instruction. Additional selections may be needed for multi-engine aircraft, seaplanes, or rotorcraft.
