Reporting a discrepancy, severity levels, and the immutable maintenance audit trail.
Reporting a squawk
- 1Open Maintenance and choose New squawk, or report it while closing a dispatch sheet.
- 2Pick the aircraft, describe the discrepancy factually, and set severity.
- 3Submit. A grounding squawk immediately blocks dispatch for that aircraft.
| Severity | Effect |
|---|---|
| Grounding | Aircraft cannot be dispatched until a mechanic clears the item. |
| Monitor | Aircraft remains airworthy; the item is tracked and shown at dispatch. |
| Cosmetic | Recorded for the next scheduled maintenance visit. |
Audit trail
Every status change, comment and corrective action is appended to the squawk's event history. Events cannot be edited or deleted — corrections are added as new events, which keeps the maintenance record defensible.
