Squawks and maintenance

Reporting a discrepancy, severity levels, and the immutable maintenance audit trail.

Reporting a squawk

  1. 1Open Maintenance and choose New squawk, or report it while closing a dispatch sheet.
  2. 2Pick the aircraft, describe the discrepancy factually, and set severity.
  3. 3Submit. A grounding squawk immediately blocks dispatch for that aircraft.
SeverityEffect
GroundingAircraft cannot be dispatched until a mechanic clears the item.
MonitorAircraft remains airworthy; the item is tracked and shown at dispatch.
CosmeticRecorded for the next scheduled maintenance visit.

Audit trail

Every status change, comment and corrective action is appended to the squawk's event history. Events cannot be edited or deleted — corrections are added as new events, which keeps the maintenance record defensible.
