Career-track pilots

The hours between here and the minimums.

Commercial needs 250. CFI needs the commercial first. The airlines want 1,000 or 1,500 depending on your path. Every one of those hours is bought at an hourly rate, which makes the rate — and whether you can actually get the airplane on a Saturday — the whole game. A4Flight publishes wet rates, caps membership against fleet size and bills in honest tenth-of-an-hour increments.

Why the club math works

Wet rates beat dry rates at real fuel prices.

Fuel is already in the number

A dry rate plus 9–11 gph of 100LL at DFW-area prices routinely lands above our wet rate. The rate you see is the rate you are invoiced per Hobbs hour.

The LSA is your cheapest legal hour

The Jabiru J170 is the lowest wet rate in the fleet — ideal for solo cross-countries, night currency and pure PIC accumulation.

Complex-adjacent, IFR-real

The Cirrus SR20-G2 gives you real IFR, autopilot and high-performance-avionics time that shows up well on an interview logbook.

Cross-country blocks you can book

Multi-day and full-weekend reservations are allowed with a daily minimum, so long XC trips toward the 50-hour PIC XC requirement are actually possible.

Whole-hour, honest billing

One-hour minimum, then billed in 0.1 hour increments, on one club invoice with optional autopay and account credits.

Experience tracked automatically

The portal maps every logged flight against Part 61 commercial, instrument and ATP experience lines so you know exactly which requirement to fly next.

Instruction

Ratings on the same ramp.

Instrument, commercial and CFI prep run out of Sheltair at KDTO with A4-approved instructors. Because the club pays CFIs directly, you never negotiate an instruction rate mid-training.

Fuel math

Wet rates, checked against the pump.

Set today's fuel price and compare the club's wet rate with a dry rate plus fuel.

Club wet rate
$250.00 / hr
Fuel at 10.5 gph
$64.58 / hr
Equivalent dry rate
$185.43 / hr

The club rate includes fuel. To compare against a dry rental, add the fuel line above to that rental's posted hourly rate. Instruction, when you fly with a club CFI, appears on the same club invoice — one invoice, everything included.
